Teacher - Antonia Wise-Stewart
"I'm dedicated to de-mystifying yoga and bringing it to a wider range of people. It's not difficult and you don't need to be a gymnast to try. I hope that I inspire you and that you come and take a class to see for youself what you can get out of it"
I had been doing Yoga for years on and off when I finally met a teacher who made it come alive for me. I realised Yoga wasn't just about pulling shapes with the body but about understanding the body, the breath and the mind and how these all affect on another. I had a glimpse of how powerful Yoga could be.
I studied Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga with a school registered with the Yoga Alliance and gained my 200 hours teacher training certificate.
After my 200 hour teacher training I went on to train in more specific areas including the Yoga Bananas technique for Children's Yoga which inspires my Mummy and Me Yoga class. I also trained with WhYoga so that I could teach Pregnancy Yoga. Thanks to Vicky Oliver the founder of both the children's and pregnancy yoga courses I was left absolutely inspired and informed.
Being able to bring Yoga to children and babies has opened up a whole new chapter for me and made me realise how far this wonderful practice of Yoga and Yogic principles can reach. By introducing fun mind and body fitness games to children and babies we're able to teach them earlier on about different tools for coping with the challenges of life.
I am interested in the very real and practical benefits of Yoga. By learning the scientific connection between the body, breathe and mind I am constantly inspired to practice and share the knowledge that Yoga can really have a long lasting beneficial effects both on your physical and mental well being.
I was thrilled to spend a weekend with David Swenson in December 2011 at his Ashtanga Workshop. Meeting such a genuine grounded man and his wonderful wife was inspiring.
By allowing time to focus, listen and connect to both the body and mind we truly are able to make better decisions for ourselves. It's just common sense. We need to stop every now and then and take stock so that we can move forward with a better understanding of ourselves.
No matter your age or ability it's never too late for yoga
